Indiana plumber license requirements
The answer
Indiana licenses plumbers statewide through the Plumbing Commission (plumbing is the only construction trade Indiana licenses at state level). Apprentice: $10, age 17+, enrolled with an approved program sponsor. Approved apprenticeship → journeyman
Register as an apprentice ($10) with an Indiana Plumbing Commission-approved school sponsor, complete the program, then apply for journeyman ($30) with your certificate of completion and pass the PROV exam.
Out-of-state licensed plumber
An active out-of-state plumbing license plus an employer Affidavit showing 4 years of experience in the trade qualifies you to apply and sit the Indiana exam.
Journeyman → contractor
Contractors apply at $50 (via the approved-school or experience route) and pass the contractor exam — required to run a plumbing business.
