Qualify and pass the Class I or II exam
Submit the completed, signed and notarized GOALS application ($110) with your work-experience documentation, three references, background check from local law enforcement, and a secure-and-verifiable document + citizenship affidavit. Once the Board approves you, sit the exam. Experience specifics are set by Board Rule 121-3.
Start as a helper/apprentice
No state registration is needed to work under a licensed contractor — build documented experience (an IBEW/IEC apprenticeship counts) until you can meet the Board Rule 121-3 experience requirements for the contractor exam.

Georgia grants Non-Restricted reciprocity to holders of a CURRENT license WITH NO VIOLATIONS obtained BY EXAMINATION from Alabama, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina or Tennessee.
